Ford Delivery Company opened it's doors in the Haymarket area of downtown Lincoln, NE in 1915 as a small, family-owned local drayage company. Articles of Incorporation were filed in 1928. In October of 1937, Ford Delivery Co., Inc. was granted the first common carrier Certificate of Authority in the state of Nebraska, and expanded rapidly into interstate commerce, with offices nationwide.
On May 1, 1941, Ford Delivery Co., Inc., changed its name to Ford Van Lines, Inc., and that's how we've been known for nearly 80 years.
Opened by George and Jacob Wiederspan, Ford Van Lines was owned and operated by the Wiederspan family for over 80 years. In 1999, ownership was passed to long-time employee and Vice-President Tom Coffey, who continued as acting president until his passing in 2017.
The Coffey family remains committed to the values and traditions of a family-owned company, and Ford Van Lines, Inc. looks to the future under the guardianship of Tom's widow and sons.
Today, Ford Van Lines, Inc. is one of the oldest continuously operating motor carriers in the country, and we are proud of our legacy.
We've expanded from our award-winning household goods moving services to specialty shipping and handling services with the 2007 launch of our Cinema Division.
We are a woman-owned and woman-led company, with over 100 years combined experience in the industry.
Transportation and Logistics are changing as rapidly as new technology becomes available. Ford Van Lines is poised to move into our next 100 years on pace with our evolving industry.
